The Chase/The Capture
Reality Over Dreams - Part II
She gathered herself off the ground, and stood staring at the enchanting stars. She heard something behind her, and turned, her lavish silk whirling with her. Alarmed eyes searching the forest and rolling hills. Her nose crinkled at the repulsive odor coming from the grove, and she frantically rummaged around for the source. Her pulse was throbbing, and her heart pounding in her ears. With fists clenched tightly, she took a few steps forward. She stumbled on something on the ground, and looked down. The orb. The knife had penetrated the surface, and what was inside, is now free. Her shoulders started to tremble, and she fought the fear growing within. It was coming, she could feel it.
A shaky hand reached up to rub her swollen eyes. A glance around finds her wrists bound tightly with rough cords, cutting into her flesh. Dried blood was caked around her bindings, covering the fresh wound from the night before. Her dress was in tatters about her weakened body, and the ground was hard and cool beneath her. Her eyes gradually adjusted to the dimness of the cavern where she was held. A small pail rested beside her, and she slowly crawled to it. She hesitantly groped around in the bucket, and discovered water. A flood of relief soothed her torn soul, and she plunged her ravished arms into the brisk cold water. She brought her cupped hands to her ashen face, and drank the biting frost greedily, then slipped back into unconsciousness.
