Losing Hope

Torrents of anguishing laughter
Stampedes of unchallenged mirth
Raucously ripping asunder
The soul of an innocent birth

Screams that are thickened with vengeance
Aimed at a price they dare win
Shriveling deep within penance
Unheedingly sparring with kin

Enshrouding in lies and misgivings
Denying sweet tender and love
Passing up kindness; civilities
Igniting the embers above

A caustic remembrance of family
A shadow of something humane
Succumbing to bitter calamity
Bereavement of closeness, in vain

They’ll lose the essence of childhood
And create a misguided youth
Persistently battling on could
Present her a world without truth
